New Hanover County Board of Commissioners meet Monday, 9 a.m. (Port City Daily/Alexandria Sands Williams)

Monday, August 22

The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at the New Hanover County Historic Courthouse, 24 N. Third St, room 301. The meeting can be livestreamed on the county website, on NHCTV or on YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:

  • A public hearing and consideration of approval to submit a joint application with the City of Wilmington to the JAG program for 2022 funding from the U.S. Department of Justice
  • An annual update from the New Hanover County Airport Authority
  • Consideration of NHC Board of Education applications for public school building fund and public school building repair and renovation funds
  • Ratification of a federal grant application for community-driven approaches to address factors contributing to structural racism in public health

Tuesday, August 23

The Carolina Beach Town Council will hold a workshop at 9 a.m. in council chambers, 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach. The meeting can be livestreamed on YouTube. The agenda includes:

  • Update from the parking committee 
  • Short term rental update

Wednesday, August 24

The Topsail Beach Planning Board will meet at 10 a.m. at town hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd. The meeting can be livestreamed online. An agenda was not posted by press.

Thursday, August 25

The Topsail Island Shoreline Protection Commission will meet at 2 p.m. at Topsail Beach Town Hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd. An agenda and link to livestream the meeting were not available by press but will be posted on the TISPC website.

The New Hanover County ABC Board meets at 9 a.m. at 6009 Market St. An agenda was not posted by press.

The North Carolina State Ports Authority board will meet at 9 a.m. in the board room of the North Carolina Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Blvd. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority will meet at 12:30 p.m., Forden Station, 505 Cando St. It can be livestreamed here or phone in via audio conference at  (312) 757-3121, with access code “844-936-749.” Items on the agenda include:  

  • Fourth quarter update on community engagement and outreach
  • Volkswagen Settlement — award letter, vehicle maintenance chart 
  • Application for WMPO funding  for Surface Transportation Block Grant Program – Direct Attributable Funds (STBGP-DA) for passenger amenity upgrades
