SOUTHEASTERN, N.C. — As part of our countdown to 2021, Port City Daily is revisiting some of its biggest stories of 2020.
Coming in ninth is the official announcement that North Carolinians must wear face masks in public places.
At the time, face coverings weren’t as common, worn optionally in stores by both employees and customers. Now, face masks are a new normal in public.
Read the original “Governor Cooper requires face masks in public places, extends phase two for 3 weeks,” published June 24, below.
Note: The actual #9 most-read piece of 2020 involves a story of a missing woman who has since been located. Out of respect for the woman and her family, Port City Daily is choosing not to bring renewed attention to the personal incident.
