
SOUTHEASTERN, N.C. — In the last 14 days, more than 1,300 people in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties collectively tested positive for Covid-19.
Below is a tri-county look at the active cases in public schools between Dec. 7-11:
New Hanover
In the same week New Hanover County Schools announced it would transition to Plan A next month, the district reported 55 new cases.

It is less than the first week back from Thanksgiving when the total reached 61 and 122 people were exposed.
This week, 37 people were assigned to quarantine after being exposed to the virus in one of the facilities.
The district has recorded a total of 237 positive cases since Aug. 17 and directed 424 people to quarantine due to exposure since Oct. 12.

This week Brunswick County Schools reported 21 cases among its students and staff members, including one person at the central services office. After making close contact with a positive individual, 147 people were directed to quarantine.
Brunswick County Schools has recorded a total of 95 positive cases in its schools to date. Of those, 74 are recovered.

Pender County Schools has launched an online chart to update the community on Mondays of the current number of Covid-19 cases and quarantines at every school.
The public may access the data on the Pender County Schools website.
Currently, a total of 13 staff and students are isolating for the virus, including one person in the central office. Out of precaution, 109 people are quarantining.
Pender County Schools has seen 161 cases since Aug. 12. Of those, 148 are recovered.
