The move sparked controversy as hundreds of students scrambled to decide who would leave and who would stay — and the University required that students who left campus go back to their parents’ (or guardians’) homes.
Cases are climbing for college-age residents of New Hanover County, and UNCW’s positive case count is similar to that of UNC-CH at the time of its closure. Some students think a shuttering of face-to-face classes is inevitable. But for now, UNCW says it can, and will, hold the course.
