Update: New Hanover deputies locate missing 16-year-old

Update: Friday, August 3:45 p.m. — According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, William Blake Hutchinson has been located safe and was returned to his family.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a missing 16-year-old Laney High School student.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO), William Blake Hutchinson was reported missing on Friday, August 7.

NHCSO described William as 5-foot, 9-inches, 140 lbs white male with a thin build, blue eyes, and medium-length brown hair. According to NHCSO, William has a dollar-sign tattoo on his middle finger (authorities did not specify which hand). William’s left ear is pierced.

William was last seen at 1029 Anchors Bend Way, off Middle Sound Loop near Figure Eight Island. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, tan shorts, and white Converse shoes.
