BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Brunswick County logged its highest-ever real estate sales in a single month in July.

Sales jumped 86% last month compared to July 2019, at $243 million in total home sales.

The average sale price increased 18% over the same timeframe, from $286,204 per unit to $337,993.

With a bulk of home sales in Leland (174) and barrier islands (206), the number of units sold spiked 57%, with 720 sold in July.

“Last month I had to do a double-take to make sure I was reading the numbers correctly,” Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® CEO Cynthia Walsh said in a press release. “This month I had to do a triple-take. While we can expect to see some impact from Hurricane Isaias in next month’s numbers, overall our market continues to be on fire.”

Walsh expects sales to cool off in August due to Hurricane Isaias. New listings in July were up 32% compared to July 2019, with 726 new units on the market.
