Wilmington police searching for SUV that killed pedestrian

WILMINGTON — A Friday night hit-and-run on Kerr Avenue resulted in the death of a man, leaving police to search for the vehicle and driver responsible.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the incident happened “around 11 p.m. last night in the 200 block of S. Kerr Avenue near Emerson Avenue.”

A pedestrian, 30-year-old Jordan Flanagan, was struck by a vehicle — described by witnesses as a small, dark SUV — and left lying in the road. When officers arrived, Flanagan was alive but “barely breathing.” He was quickly taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center but died of his injuries.
