WILMINGTON — A Friday morning incident resulted in several shots being fired into a home occupied by five people, a suspect’s foot being run over by the driver trying to escape, and a stolen Jeep being recovered.

“Around 1:10 a.m. Friday, June 26, Wilmington police responded to the 500 block of Anderson Street in reference to shots fired. The caller reported multiple rounds had been fired into a house occupied by five people, including children. There were no injuries. Officers were advised a red Jeep may have been involved and identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male,” according to the Wilmington Police Department.

When police located a vehicle matching the description they attempted to conduct a traffic stop — it did not go well.

“The driver fled and lost control of the vehicle, spinning out and hitting a bush, around two minutes into the pursuit. At that time, the vehicle’s four occupants — all juveniles — attempted to flee on foot. One of the occupants suffered an injury to his foot when the driver ran over it while he was attempting to flee. He was transported to NHRMC. Two others were detained. Police are still searching for the 16-year-old suspect, who’s believed to have been driving the car,” according to police.

The vehicle turned out to be stolen and a rifle and shotgun were located inside of it.
