Woman fights off attempted Greenville Loop kidnapping

WILMINGTON — According to the Wilmington Police Department, a female whose car had broken down on Greenville Loop Road was assaulted by three men who attempted to drag her into a nearby trailer.

According to police, the female victim stated she was walking down the 6500 block of Greenville Loop Road because her vehicle had broken down on Wednesday night.

“When she passed by a lot, 32-year-old Tomas Yoc Cinto, 25-year-old Joel Yoc Cinto, and 36-year-old Jose Mendez began yelling at her and harassing her. She tried to ignore them but they ran into the street and began assaulting her. One of the individuals yelled to the others to drag her into a nearby trailer. The victim began kicking and screaming as they were dragging her and the individuals finally let go,” according to the WPD.

Wilmington police responded to the assault and kidnapping at around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday night.

When detectives interviewed her at the hospital, she was able to identify all three of the suspects, according to police. Each of the men was arrested and charged with assault on a female, second-degree kidnapping, and felony conspiracy, and given $100,000 secured bonds.
