Wilmington Police respond to fight involving a knife in downtown, no injuries reported

WILMINGTON — Police responded to a fight involving a knife late Tuesday night, no injuries were reported.

“A little after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, the Wilmington Police Department Downtown Task Force responded to Front and Market St. in reference to a fight involving a knife. Benjamin Comeford, 26, chased down a 20-year-old male while armed,” according to police.

Comeford was arrested and subsequently charged with multiple crimes.

According to police he was “charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officers, Felony Possession of Cocaine, and a parole violation. He was given a $3,000 secured bond. “

Comeford has a history of criminal activity dating back to at least 2009, police said.
