Wilmington police respond to stabbing on Castle Street, arrest 43-year-old

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department (WPD) arrested a suspect in an early morning stabbing on Castle Street.

“Just after midnight Monday, June 8, Wilmington police responded to the 800 block of Castle Street in reference to a stabbing. The victim stated he was sitting in front of the residence when 43-year-old Michelle Kenney approached swinging a knife. The victim put his hand up to stop her from hitting him and suffered a non-life threatening wound to the hand, which was treated by EMS,” according to the WPD.

Kenney fled the scene but officers apprehended her quickly according to police.

“She is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury (ADWISI) and Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officer (RDO) and was given an $8,500 secured bond,” police concluded.
