WILMINGTON — The New Hanover County courthouse in downtown Wilmington will be closed for the remainder of Monday after a court employee tested positive for Covid-19.
Clerk of Superior Court Jan Kennedy confirmed Monday afternoon that the clerk’s office learned a staff member had tested positive and “sent everyone home so that the County could come in and do a good cleaning of the entire courthouse.”
Kennedy confirmed that the courthouse would reopen for business on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
While the courthouse is operating on limited hours with restrictions on hearings, it has continued to process first appearances, civil issues, and perform others functions, especially those which can be performed while adhering to social distancing.
