
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Authorities have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a shooting that damaged several vehicles and an apartment.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO), 20-year-old Dasmon Cortez Greene (sometimes listed as Demond, or under the alias ‘Chubbz’) was arrested after an incident that took place on Thursday, March 26 at the Deerbrook Apartment Homes off of N. Kerr Avenue, north of MLK Jr. Blvd.
According to NHCSO, “On Thursday, March 26 shortly after 10:30 p.m. deputies responded to 808 Nature Trail Unit 6 for shots fired. Once on scene, deputies discovered several vehicles were struck by rounds and several bullet holes entering the apartment.”
Detectives tracked Greene to a local hotel and arrested him. He is facing nearly twenty charges, including drug trafficking, possession of multiple narcotics, discharging a firearm at an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Greene has a history of felony drug-dealing charges. He was released from his most recent parole term on Sunday, March 22 — just four days before the shooting.
Greene is being held on a $750,000 secured bond at the New Hanover County detention facility.
