UPDATE (3:10 p.m. Tuesday) — Emma Jo Hamby has been located and safely returned to her home.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find 14-year-old Emma Jo Hamby, last seen on Monday.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO), Emma Jo was last seen at 414 Sheppard Drive, off of Gordon Road in the Murrayville area.
NHCSO describes Emma Jo as white female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 115 pounds with a thin build; she has blue eyes and long brown hair, according to NHCSO. Emm Jo has a scar on her right cheek, but no other documented identifying marks.
Emma Jo attends Trask Middle School; according to NHCSO, the school resource officer has been notified.
