BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Reports of police cars and officers surrounding a school bus on Highway 17 made the rounds on social media on Tuesday morning. There was little information besides the fact that Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with State Highway Patrol, had a bus stopped ‘near a Chevrolet dealership.’

As it turns out, there is still limited information available but Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Emily Flax was able to calm initial fears.

The incident in question was a hit and run, according to Flax, and no students were on the bus at the time. The case will be investigated by the State Highway Patrol since they investigate all traffic incidents, she said.

Becuase Highway Patrol does these investigations, Flax had no other information at this time. Port City Daily has reached out to Highway Patrol for more information but at the time of publication, has not yet received anything more from state law enforcement. This article will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
