WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Next month the biannual Tri Mindfulness event will return to Wrightsville Beach. The event benefits a rotating list of local organizations; November’s event will benefit A Safe Place.

All proceeds will benefit A Safe Place, “an empowerment organization focused on prevention advocacy and restoration to assist victims of commercial sex exploitation and domestic minor sex trafficking that services the southeast region of North Carolina.”

A Safe Place has been a key part of the region’s battle against human trafficking. You can read more about the issue here.

The event will be held on November 10, at the Shell Island Resort on Wrightsville Beach. Starting a 9 a.m. there will be a 5-kilometer run (or walk), followed by 40 minutes of yoga, and a 20-minute guided meditation (past years have featured a professional harpist during this segment). Weather permitting, the event will be held entirely on the beach.

The event is pet-friendly, participants should bring a bottle of water and a towel.

Following the ‘triathlon’ there will be music, as well as health and wellness vendors, in the resort’s Ocean View Ballroom.

Schedule:

  • 7:30-8:30 a.m. Race Day Registration at Shell Island Resort (beachfront)
  • 9 a.m. 5K start (45 minutes to complete the course)
  • 9:45-10:30 a.m. Yoga
  • 10:30-10:45 a.m. Meditation

Shell Island Resort is located at 2700 North Lumina Avenue, on the north end of Wrightsville Beach. Tickets range $25 to $35 and are available, along with more information, here.
