WILMINGTON — Authorities are investigating a Thursday-night shooting that sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), officers responded to a call about a man “lying in the roadway” on Church Street between 14th and 15th streets. Officers arrived around 10:45 p.m. and “found a small crowd gathered around the victim who had been shot several times.”
According to WPD, the victim was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with severe gunshot injuries. WPD said that, due to the “urgent need for medical care,” the man has not yet been identified.
WPD is still investigating.
