PENDER COUNTY — Cedar Lane, the first leg of a connection between N.C. 210 and J H Batts Road, will be closed to through traffic Saturday through Monday, May 25 to 27.

“Last year, a record 100-plus inches of rain and Hurricane Florence caused one washout and two sinkholes on sections of Cedar Avenue between N.C. 210 and Landing Drive near Surf City,” according to a release from Pender County on Wednesday.

The closure will be near the intersection of Ashley Lane and Cedar Avenue, approximately a thousand feet south of N.C. 210 as it approaches Surf City from N.C. 17. Barricades and signage will be placed near the closure to alert vehicles.

In order to mitigate risks from the washout and two sinkholes, traffic on Cedar Avenue had been restricted to a single lane in April, according to the release.
