State Highway Patrol seeks driver who fled after allegedly striking and killing Brunswick County man

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred today.

“On Tuesday, April 30, troopers responded to Marlowtown Road near Calabash to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian which was struck by an unknown type vehicle.  As a result of the crash, the pedestrian, identified as Wilber Green, 49, of Calabash, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The vehicle involved fled the scene prior to investigators arriving,” according to a release from Sgt. Michael Baker.

The State Highway Patrol (SHP) had no further information at this time; this article will be updated if and when more details become available.

SHP troopers are requesting anyone who may have information related to the crash to contact the State Highway Patrol Telecommunications Center at 1-800-334-7411 or the New Hanover County SHP office at 910-395-3917.
