
WILMINGTON — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office seized over 20 pounds of cannabis (a.k.a. marijuana) from after a half-year investigation.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO), the “Vice and Narcotics Division conducted a marijuana trafficking investigation over the past 6 months involving Marvin Gerald Waite Jr. of 160 Stonewall Jackson Drive.” The residence is located just off Shipyard Boulevard, near to the Pine Valley Country Club.
NHCSO detectives executed a search warrant of Friday, Feb. 15, seizing “21 pounds of marijuana” that NHCSO claims has “an approximate street value of $50,000.”
The investigation is still ongoing, and NHCSO expects additional charges and more arrests.
Waite, 36, and his wife, Megan Dawn Waite, 32, were both arrested on multiple counts of trafficking marijuana, conspiracy to traffic marijuana, and other drug-related charges. Both are being held on $350,000 secured bonds.
A third suspect, David Lewis Hamm, 35, was also arrested on conspiracy to traffic and other drug related charges, as well as possession of a firearm by a felon.
