CAROLINA BEACH — The Town of Carolina Beach is mourning the loss of one of the island’s most well-known faces, Danny Swinson of the Lazy Pirate.

Swinson served as Director of Marketing and Promotions at Lazy Pirate for years. Swinson passed away over the weekend, he was 57.

On Wednesday, the community is invited to a memorial fundraiser in Danny’s honor.

“We will be celebrating the amazing life of our buddy Danny Joe on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until whenever. Nobody knew how to throw a better party than Danny so he’ll be expecting all of his friends to be in attendance and making a fuss about how awesome he is! Come ready to embrace, dance, cry, laugh and share your stories. Of course, the music community will be stepping up to set the vibe Danny loved,” according to a social media post from Lazy Pirate.

All of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Pleasure Island H.E.L.P. Center in Swinson’s name.
