CAROLINA BEACH — The deadline for Freeman Park early-bird passes, initially set for today, has been extended to the end of the year.
The town recently raised the price of the season pass to Freeman Park from $150 to $200, and faced some criticism for it; calls for a “locals-only” discount were met with bad news — because the town owns the access to the north end, but not Freeman Park itself, it can’t legally give preferential pricing to Carolina Beach residents.
The town does offer a 50-percent discount for “early bird” passes purchased in person; these tickets are $100 and are valid for the season from the day they are purchased.
According to Carolina Beach, “due to recent weather events,” the Dec. 15 deadline is being extended to Dec. 31.
