Gun violence in Wilmington continues, 18-year-old shot Sunday evening

The incident took place Sunday evening on South 13th Street. Police are still asking the public for any information.

WILMINGTON — In the latest of Wilmington gun violence, an 18-year-old has been sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound following a shooting Sunday evening.

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), “WPD is investigating a shooting that left a juvenile injured this evening. Police responded to the 200 block of South 13th Street around 5:30 p.m. in reference to a Shotspotter notification of multiple rounds fired. The victim was transported to NHRMC.”

According to WPD spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, the victim suffered non-life threatening wounds.

This is just one of the several shootings that have plagued Wilmington over the past few weeks, police are still investigating to see if the incidents are related.

“It’s unclear at this time if this incident is related to the recent string of shootings, but we are still asking that anyone with information on any of the shootings come forward,” Dandron said.
