Twenty shootings in four days: Wilmington Police ask for help with ‘alarming trend’

The shootings are still under investigation, but police believe them to be related.

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is going to the public for help with a rash of recent shooting across the “inner city.”

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), “During the past four days officers have responded to 20 Shotspotter alerts each with multiple rounds [fired].”

The shootings took place in Creekwood, as well as along Castle and Meares streets.

According to WPD, “No injuries have been reported but this is an alarming trend and one we are hoping to stop before anyone is seriously injured.”

The shootings are still under investigation by WPD, but they are believed to be related.
