Trash will not be picked up on Thursday, but Friday pick up will run on regular schedule.

“City trash customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Thursdays are asked to have all items curbside on Wednesday, Nov. 21 by 7 a.m.,” according to a city press release. “City recycling customers who are on the blue schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Thursday should place their recycling containers curbside by 7 a.m. on Wednesday as well.”

Visitors to Downtown Wilmington can expect to catch a break with free parking Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on street, parking decks will operate as usual.

On Friday Wilmington will celebrate its annual tree lighting at Riverfront Park.

“The downtown tree lighting will take place on Friday at Riverfront Park with holiday entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the tree lighting at approximately 6:25 p.m. Members of the Downtown Business Alliance (DBA) will be serving coffee and hot chocolate. There will be carolers for entertainment and vendors will host a “Holiday Marketplace” selling arts and crafts. Santa will visit shortly after the tree lighting,” according to the release.
