Northwest Fire Chief arrested, again, for assaulting a woman

Northwest's Fire Chief has been arrested on assault charges for the second time in a two-year period.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Northwest Fire Department Chief Charles Herzig has been arrested on assault charges. This is the second assault charge Herzig has been arrested for over a two-year period.

Herzig, 36, was arrested by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for assaulting a female last week.

According to a Sept. 20 arrest warrant, Herzig allegedly grabbed a female victim by the arms and wrists and punched her in the eye and mouth.

Both the victim and Herzig reside in the same home in Riegelwood, North Carolina.

Last year, on March 3, Herzig was arrested by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office on assault and battery charges.
