NEW HANOVER COUNTY — It’s been over ten days since New Hanover County’s liquor stores closed; today, three of the county’s eight ABC stores will reopen.
Last Tuesday, as Hurricane Florence approached the Carolina coast, New Hanover County ABC stores closed at noon, posting signs on store windows reading: “All New Hanover County ABC stores will be closing at noon on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 due to hurricane. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check website for further information.”

The New Hanover County ABC Board did not contact the media or make other efforts to advertise the closing.
Today, the county opened the following three stores:
- Store #101 — 523 South 17th Street
- Store #106 — 3544 South College Road
- Store # 110 — 8122 Market Street
All three stores will be open Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The ABC Board is assessing the remaining five stores to determine when they will be able to open.
