WILMINGTON–The Wilmington Fire Department will conduct a controlled burn training, closing part of Carolina Beach Road tomorrow.
This will be a live drill and residents are still advised to avoid the location, according to the Wilmington Fire Department (WFD).
A southbound lane of Carolina Beach Road will be closed on Saturday, June 16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic delays are expected.
The residential structure at 4822 Carolina Beach Road will be a part of the controlled burn, beginning at 1 p.m.
WPD Captain Tim Smith said, “This type of training helps to make our firefighters better and safer.”
Neighboring residents were notified earlier in the week of the upcoming live burn.
The homeowner submitted the required permits and liability insurance to the Office of the State Fire Marshall, who granted permission to burn the property. After the exercise, the property will be sold.
