PENDER COUNTY — Schools in Pender County are on lockdown due to an unknown incident Tuesday morning.

According to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, all east side schools are on code red lockdown, and west side schools are on a code yellow lockdown.

According to a social media post from Pender County Schools, “Topsail Elementary, Topsail Middle, and Topsail High School are currently in a code red lock down due to information received by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.”

Code red lockdown is a complete shutdown of the school, nobody is permitted on or off campus and code yellow is a heightened alert.

The PCSO would not specify what the threat was but said information will be provided to the media when it becomes available.

Port City Daily will provide updates as they become available.
