Police arrest Wilmington men for trafficking 5,000 bindles of heroin

WPD concluded a four month investigation with the seizure of 5,000 bindles of heroin.

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department arrested two Wilmington men for trafficking heroin on Monday.

According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, members of the WPD Special Investigation Division concluded a four month investigation with the arrest Andrew Lige, 39, and Tony Sims, 52, for trafficking heroin.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the 600 block of North College Road, which led to the seizure of 5,000 bindles of heroin.

Lige and Sims were charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell, distribute heroin and maintaining a vehicle.

Lige and Sims are currently being held at New Hanover County Jail awaiting trial.
