NEW HANOVER COUNTY — If a puppy lounge isn’t enticing enough to get people to a fashion show, then maybe 15 local “hunks” are.
For its second year, Dauntless Dog Rescue is preparing to host Hunks and Hounds Fashion Show, a charitable event to benefit its medical care fund for rescued dogs.
“Most dogs are adoptable or have been adoptable in the past,” said Brandi Weatherington, founding partner of Dauntless Dog Rescue.
Weatherington said she still has local bachelors asking to participate as a model, but the show is fully booked. Last year, Weatherington said the models enjoyed the limelight with the pups.
“The guys in the show kind of just took over the show and did their own thing,” she said. “Some of them got really into it, some of them took their shirts off.”
If hunks aren’t your thing, there will be plenty of puppies available for cuddling throughout. Two litters of rescued, six-week-old puppies will be available for snuggles and adoption. One liter is long-haired dachshunds, the other, lab-retriever mixes.
“They’re like cute fluffy guys,” Weatherington said. “We may have a few other onesie twosies.”
The puppies will be outfitted by Trulie Dogs and the humans will be wearing threads from Old Navy, Bloke, Men’s Wearhouse and Harley Davidson.
Early bird ticket specials and reserved tables are still available, with lower prices ending on Feb. 10.
The event is set to take place at Ironclad Brewery on Feb. 17 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
