WILMINGTON—Yoga Salt, a west coast yoga studio founded by Tamal Dodge, has found a home on the east coast.

In the thriving and evolving landscape of the South Front District, the yoga studio will soon anchor the live-eat-play community.

Dodge had developed an affinity for Wilmington after a decade of traveling coast to coast and will soon bring his expertise to the soon-to-be revitalized Capps Industrial Supply building at 110 Greenfield Street.

“His whole vision really works with our whole vision”, said Molly McDonough, regional director for the South Front District. “Something like yoga is great for our residents and visitors.”

South Front Apartments, Satellite Bar and Lounge, theArtWorks and soon, chef Vivian Howard’s Benny’s Big Time Pizzeria and chef Lydia Clopton’s bakery cafe, all are filling out the growing district.

“The 17,000-square-foot industrial supply building that will now be home to mixed use retail,” McDonough said. “We’re looking to create a community within the south front district.”

Mark Maynard, CEO and president of Tribute Properties, has been working to renew the South Front District, from 3rd Street down to South Front Street, since first breaking ground in 2007.

Tribute Properties is actively seeking commercial tenants to fill out the remaining space in the Capps building.

“We are still in the design stage,” McDonough said. “We will probably break ground in January of this year.”

South Front Apartments are comprised of 270 renovated units, located in walking distance of the district’s emerging retail properties. “We respectfully restored all of the former public housing units,” McDonough said.

Between a cafe, a bar, a pizzeria, and now, a yoga studio, the district is looking for tenants that will round out their prospective communal lineup.

“We can really do a lot to accommodate any prospective tenants.”
