Update: Blue Eyed Muse releases statement and refund info, says reopening unlikely
WILMINGTON — The Blue Eyed Muse theater in downtown Wilmington is closing immediately, apparently due to structural issues.
Owner Damian Brezinski said there would be a formal announcement later today and that he was not at liberty to discuss details.
“Essentially, it has to do with the structure itself,” Brezinksi said. “We can’t in good faith have people in the building at this time.”
There are no further details about the exact nature of the issues or how long it will take to deal with them. Port City Daily will update this article with more information when it becomes available.
As of Wednesday morning, all ticket sales through the venue’s website were cancelled, labeled ‘not for sale,’ from Friday night’s Holy Ghost Tent Revival show through the end of the year.
The theater dates back over 70 years and has changed many times. Originally opened as the Manor Theatre, the venue has more recently been “The Rox,” “Ziggy’s by the Sea,” and most recently, the “Throne Theater.” Brezinski officially took over the location at the beginning of this year, undertaking thorough renovations.
