Hurricane Irma still causing closings and cancellations: ferries, flights and liquor

Hurricane Irma has traveled far west of the Cape Fear, but the region is still experiencing powerful surf and high winds.

ABC Stores

All New Hanover County ABC stores will close at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. Updates for Tuesday hours will be posted at the ABC’s website.

NC Ferries

Due to high winds and potentially dangerous maritime conditions, the Fort Fisher to Southport Ferry route has been cancelled for the day. The Southport to Bald Head Island ferry is still operating.Wilmington International Airport (ILM)

The airport’s two commercial carriers – Delta and America Airlines – have cancelled most flights today. According to Gary Broughton, deputy director of ILM, severe weather conditions across the southeast have contributed to the cancellations

The airport suggests anyone planning on flying through ILM or expecting an arriving flight to check its arrivals and departures board, or to check with carriers American Airlines and Delta.
