WILMINGTON — Halloween City will take up residence in the old hhgregg location in Mayfaire — temporarily.
Mayfaire’s online shop index advertises Halloween City as offering the “latest and greatest 2017 costumes” and “the best Halloween costume ideas.” According to the Mayfaire site, the store will open on September 7.
Although Halloween City is billed as “your Halloween headquarters year round,” the store won’t be a permanent addition to Mayfaire — the space is still for lease, according to a representative for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc.
The large commercial space at 830 Inspiration Dr. has been vacant since hhgregg closed in May, following a bankruptcy filing in March. However, the electronics and furniture retailer posted a somewhat cryptic announcement of a “Grand Reopening” earlier this week; the company’s website now features a countdown clock, now at 25 days.
No word on whether the chain plans to return to Mayfaire or the Wilmington area. Calls to the company’s Indianapolis headquarters were not immediately returned.
