WILMINGTON — Bragging rights of making a hole-in-one just got a whole lot sweeter as Lower Cape Fear Hospice announced it will be turning over the keys to a 2017 Chevy Camaro, thanks to Jeff Gordon Chevrolet, to the golfer who can sink the ace shot at its Closer to Home Golf Classic.

Golfers will tee off Friday, May 12, at Cape Fear National Golf Course at Brunswick Forest in Leland. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

“We’re extremely excited to have such an awesome prize for the lucky player who sinks the hole-in-one challenge,” Laurie Taylor, LCFH vice president of fund development, said. “We can’t possibly thank Jeff Gordon Chevrolet enough for this huge show of support for our mission to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients with life-limiting and serious illnesses.”

The winner will be able to choose a Camaro from the dealership’s lot or have one custom built to his or her specifications (restrictions apply).

If a Camaro is not your dream car, Jeff Gordon will apply the value of the prize toward the purchase of another car on their lot. The local dealership is sponsoring all the hole-in-one challenges, and other great prizes include a four-day golf vacation at a Fairmont Resort; Travis Mathew signature clothing shopping spree; and a set of TaylorMade SpeedBlade Irons.

“We are also so grateful that Cape Fear National has been a sponsor of the event for seven years,” Taylor said.  “Their support, along with all of our generous donors, allows us to provide the highest level of quality end-of-life care in the region.”

Cape Fear National is one of the region’s most celebrated courses and regularly ranks on Golfweek Magazine’s list of Best Courses to Play in North Carolina.

Closer to Home Golf Classic participants will have access to 18 holes of championship play; a golf cart, equipped with new digital GPS displays; breakfast; beverages; burgers and dogs hot off the grill; the chance to win prizes at the hole-in-one challenges; a putting contest; raffles and awards.

Registration is open to teams and individuals. For information, or to register, visit lcfhfoundation.org/events.
