WILMINGTON — Country music fans around the Cape Fear region will get a chance to see Grammy-winning artist Travis Tritt in concert this summer.
Cape Fear Community College recently announced the Country music star is performing on the Wilson Center stage at 8 p.m. Friday, June 30. The concert follows a list of acts set to take the stage in June, including The Pointer Sisters and Comedian Woopi Goldberg.
According to the college’s announcement, Tritt has incorporated lifelong influences in southern rock, blues and gospel into his music. Tritt’s debut album “Country Club,” released in 1990, put him in the center of the country music boom in the early 1990s.
Though a country music singer, you’ll rarely find Tritt in a cowboy hat, which sets him apart — along with his “musical aggressiveness” — from others in the genera. Tritt has sold more than 25 million albums, won a pair of Grammys, and three CMA awards.
Tickets for the performance cost between $30 and $65, plus taxes and fees. Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center is located at 703 N. Third St. in downtown Wilmington. For information about the show and to purchase tickets visit the Wilson Center website.
