Pointer Sisters coming to Wilmington

WILMINGTON  – Cape Fear Community College has announced that the Pointer Sisters are coming to the Wilson Center in June.

The show, on the campus of Cape Fear Community College at 703 North 3rd St., is Sunday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m.  

Tickets go on sale March 10 at 10 a.m. at capefearstage.com, or beginning at 2 p.m. the same day by calling Ticket Central at 910-362-7999 or by visiting the Wilson Center box office.  Hours are Monday-Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sister’s careers’ span more than four decades, the college said through a press release. Their first Grammy Award, best country performance by a duo/group, for was garnered in 1975 for the song “Fairytale.”

They took home Grammy gold again in 1983 for songs from their “Break Out” album. They won best vocal by a duo/group for the song  “Jump” and best vocal arrangement for “Automatic.”
