WILMINGTON — Aldi is holding a second event next Tuesday to fill entry-level and management jobs for two stores planned to open this year; hourly rates have increased since the company’s last round of hiring.
After an initial event in early November of last year, the German-owned discount grocery store is again looking to hire across a range of positions. The event will interview applicants for two Wilmington-area locations at South College Road and 17th St. and in Porters Neck. (Aldi had no comment on hiring for its proposed Leland store.)
Aldi pays entry-level “Store Associates” $11.35. That’s more than two dollars per hour more than Lowes and Harris Teeter, according to the website Glassdoor. The company is also hiring for “Shift Manager” positions, which starts at $15.85 – up from the $15.35 advertised last year.
Aldi is also considering applicants for store management positions. “Manager Trainees” will be offered $54,340 per year — up from the approximate $50,500 previously advertised. In addition to positions previously offered last year, Aldi will also accept applications for “Store Manager” positions. Managers will be eligible to earn between $75,000 and $90,000 annually.
Aldi posted the following requirements for all potential hires:
You must be able to lift and stock merchandise up to 45 pounds. You must be able to multitask and communicate effectively with your fellow staff, while being open to new ideas. Excellent customer service skills and communication are a must, as well as a flexible schedule. We provide an extensive period of training that will give you the tools, skills, and confidence you need to excel at ALDI. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. You must also pass a drug background check.
Aldi requests all attendees of the job event fill out an application first.
The event will be held at the SpringHill Suites in Mayfaire on Tuesday, Jan 31, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. For complete details and information on related job opportunities, visit Aldi’s employment page.
