The end of summer means a change in schedule for North Carolina’s ferries.
The Southport-Fort Fisher ferry, the only one that services New Hanover County, is switching to its offseason schedule on Sat., Oct. 1. Though not much different than its peak season schedule, which runs from April 1 to Sept. 30, there are four less ferry runs.
Once the schedule kicks in, there will be no more 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. ferries leaving Southport, and no more 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. ferries leaving Fort Fisher during the weekdays. The Saturday and Sunday schedules remain the same throughout the year.
