Wilmington man charged with sexual the assault of 2 teenage girls

NEW HANOVER COUNTY – A Wilmington man has been charged with a sexual assault on two 13-year-old girls.

Kevin Joseph Chodnicki, 51, of Haven Way in Wilmington, was charged Tuesday with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, according to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jerry Brewer.

The two victims told their parents about the assault and the parents notified the sheriff’s office, Brewer said. According to an arrest warrant, Chodnicki is charged with committing a lewd and lavish act upon the body of one of the teenage girls sometime between Jan. 1 and Sept. 12. The warrant charging him with an offense involving the second teen was not immediately available.

Chodnicki was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $500,000 secure bond.
