WILMINGTON – Wilmington police Thursday night were at the scene of a barricaded gunman in the Crosswinds Apartment complex.
Police were dispatched around 8 p.m. Thursday to investigate a barricaded person inside one of the apartments located in the 1100 block Saint Andrews Drive, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.
Police evacuated residents living inside one of the buildings off St. Andrews Drive as police negotiators work with the subject the scene, Rawley said.
This marked the second stand-off Wilmington officers had responded to on Thursday. The first ended without incident after 11 hours of negotiations with a 48-year-old man inside a duplex in the 300 block of Davie Drive. The subject surrendered without incident and was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for a psychiatric examination.
