Community input sought on rezoning for store, 32-home neighborhood

Two community meetings regarding rezoning applications to the county are scheduled this week.

The first concerns a proposal to build a store for Custom Colors Paint and Flooring at 8822 Market St., just south of Creekwood Road near the Pender County line. The property owners are seeking a conditional zoning district approval from New Hanover County, which has specific standards for each individual development proposal.

Residents near the site, particularly those within 500 feet of the property, are encouraged to attend the meeting to hear about the project and voice any questions or concerns. The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the offices of Design Solutions, located at 107 Stokely Dr., Unit 104. The second meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 2, concerns a conditional use zoning district application for property located at 2400 Middle Sound Loop Rd. Property owners of the 17.4-acre lot are looking to change the zoning from R 20S (minimum of a 20,000-square-foot lot per home) to R 15 Conditional Zone (a lot size minimum of 15,000 square feet) to develop a residential community with 32 detached single-family homes.

Nearby residents and anyone else interested in the project is invited to the meeting, which will start at 6 p.m. at the Ogden Fire Department, located at 7375 Market St. Information about the proposed development will be distributed, and the public will be able to ask questions and give comments.
