Sheriff: Man suffers fatal stab wound in New Hanover County

Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a stabbing early Friday morning.

Deputies responded to a home in the 700 block of Bracken Fern Drive near the Kings Grant area of New Hanover County for a report of a stabbing at 2 a.m. Friday, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer.

Benjamin Paul Privott, 39, had been found lying in the front yard and road. He suffered a fatal stab wound, Brewer said. Detectives are conducting a death investigation.

“There is no evidence to believe anyone in the area is in any danger,” Brewer said.
