Catch the indie folk rock heroes of Dawes when they roll through Wilmington later this year.

Tickets go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) for the Dec. 9 show at Brooklyn Arts Center, presented by 98.3 FM The Penguin. North Carolina’s own–and Merge Records-signed–Hiss Golden Messenger will open the concert.

Dawes came onto the scene in 2009 with its debut album, “North Hills.” The 2011 sophomore release, “Nothing is Wrong,” landed the band a co-headlining tour gig with Blitzen Trapper.

The band has followed up its 2013 “Stories Don’t End” with this year’s transcendent “All Your Favorite Bands.”
“Your favorite band can identify you, express how you see yourself,” singer Taylor Goldsmith said. “They enable you to articulate your feelings through the way they play their instruments and the lyrics.”

On “All Your Favorite Bands,” Dawes gives a nod to some well-known Southern California influences while creating a sound uniquely its own, with themes ranging from the glass-half-full optimism of the first single, “Things Happen” to the rocking tongue-in-cheek lyrics of “Right On Time.”

Tickets to the Brooklyn Arts Center show are $25 in advance and will be available under the Concerts tab at Port City Daily. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show gets underway at 7:30.
