The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one of three people suspected of robbing a Dunkin’ Donuts at gunpoint.
Tony Damond King-Tilman, 18, was arrested Wednesday on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second-degree kidnapping and safecracking, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Jason Augst.
Three masked men — one with a gun — entered Dunkin’ Donuts, 5611 Carolina Beach Road, shortly after 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Augst said. The three suspects took cash and ran out of the store.
King-Tilman was previously arrested in Wilmington, charged in connection with multiple armed robberies that occurred in November 2012. He pleaded guilty to three counts of common law robbery in the case on Dec. 2, 2013. He was sentenced to 13-25 months in prison, which was suspended, and was ordered to serve 36 months of probation.
King-Tilman is being held at the New Hanover County jail under a $250,000 secured bond. Augst said the investigation is ongoing.
Wilmington
Wilmington police are investigating an armed robbery at a gas station early Thursday morning.
An employee was approached outside Citgo, 1005 S. College Road, at about 5:40 a.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.
The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, directed him back into the store and demanded money, Lindsay said. The suspect took cash and ran out of the front door of the business. He wore tan pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with his hood up and a mask over his face.
