A Greenville woman died in a wreck in Pender County on Friday.
The wreck occurred on I-40 in northern Pender County at 6:34 a.m., according to N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper L.T. Hardee.
A tractor-trailer traveling west on I-40 slowed down due to icy conditions on the roadway when Mindy Burnett, 19, of Greenville–who was also traveling west on I-40–lost control of her vehicle and spun around. Burnett’s car struck the back of the tractor-trailer, Hardee said. Burnett was pronounced dead on scene.
A 1-year-old boy was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, Hardee said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
