The Agenda: Meetings in local government

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, April 14

N. Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen will hold a budget workshop at 9 a.m. at 2008 Loggerhead Court. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda review at 8:30 a.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here.

The Leland Town Council will hold an agenda review at 1 p.m. in town hall, 102 Town Hall Drive. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Engagement Opportunities
  • Video Streaming 

Tuesday, April 15

Belville ABC Board will meet at 63 River Road, 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes the new IMS system and the 2025-2026 budget. The meeting is open to the public.

The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Ordinance Appropriating Funds to Upfit the Sting Center Area Offices at the Skyline Center
  • Resolution Amending City Council’s Rules of Order, Rule 6, “Public Comment Period”

New Hanover County Board of Elections will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the new Board of Elections office at 226 Government Center Dr. to conduct regular business and discuss election-related matters.

Those who wish to participate in the meeting telephonically can do so by dialing 1-336-218-2051 at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, April 15. When prompted for the Conference ID press 253 356 091 followed by pound (#). The Brunswick County Board of Education will hold committee meetings followed by a budget work session beginning at 9 a.m in the Brunswick County Schools Administrative Offices, 35 Referendum Drive. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes: 

  • Math and ELA curriculum adoption
  • Disaster Recovery Contract
  • Funding Agreement with Brunswick County

Thursday, April 17

Topsail Beach BIS Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at 820 S. Anderson Blvd. An agenda was not posted by press. 

Surf City Technical Review Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press.

Navassa Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 338 Main St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Burgaw Planning Board will meet at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St., at 5:30 p.m. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington Board of Adjustment will meet at 1 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Northeast Corner of Third & Kidder Street: Variance to City Code Section 18-44. A.1.d.i. fenestration requirements for a residential structure in the UMX district.
  • 3741 Oleander Drive: Variance to City Code Section 18-389, Wall Sign Standards, to exceed the maximum allowed 50 square feet of signage for tenants within a multi-unit, commercial building.

The New Hanover County Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 4 p.m. in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. 

Brunswick County Community College Board of Trustees will meet at the Applied Plant Sciences Facility at 50 College Road. An agenda was not posted by press.
