WILMINGTON — The “Mayor of Flavortown” could be headed back to Wilmington, according to filming permits from the City of Wilmington. Guy Fieri’s famed “Triple D Nation” on Food Network is going to have cameras rolling at a downtown restaurant mid-month.

Film crews will be at Copper Penny, 109 Chestnut St., on Monday, Sept. 14. Produced by Citizen Pictures, “Triple D Nation” is a spinoff from “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” as Fieri returns to restaurants he already visited to check in on their evolution.

In 2018, the celebrity chef was in Wilmington for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and visited Copper Penny, as well as Sweet n Savory Cafe, Ceviche’s, Fork n Cork, Cast Iron Kitchen and Something Fishy.

While in town, he also hosted a private breakfast in Landfall and was part of a fundraiser that helped bring in more than $200,000 for GLOW Academy.

Four days before “Triple D Nation” is scheduled to be in Wilmington this month, Fieri is poised to to be in Myrtle Beach for the official ribbon cutting of his Downtown Flavortown restaurant that opened at the Myrtle Beach Mall in June. It’s a 50,000 square-foot restaurant and entertainment facility, serving Fieri’s signature dishes and outfitted with 100 arcade games, 14 duckpin bowling lanes, a Freaky Tiki Bar and event space.
