
BRUNSWICK COUNTY — One town in Brunswick County is preparing residents ahead of the 2025 hurricane season.

The Town of Leland is hosting its fifth annual Hurricane Expo on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, 1212 Magnolia Village Way.
The expo will provide residents to receive guidance from local, state, and federal experts when it comes to public safety measures to take in preparation. There will be workshops at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a roundtable, and storm-related information handed out from agencies. The Town of Leland Hurricane Guide will also be available and there is a chance to enter to win a rain barrel.
One workshop, led by the National Weather Service, will focus on the upcoming hurricane season. Another, led by Leland town staff, will cover flood zone hazards, stormwater management, and FEMA’s Community Rating System program.
The public safety roundtable at 12:30 p.m. will also have a question-and-answer session, with where representatives from Leland, the National Weather Service, and Brunswick County Emergency Management available to help with hurricane preparedness.
